Hi all,
Working on this puzzle and - so far - I have:
0/7/0 6/5/9 0/3/0
5/6/3 0/4/0 9/8/7
0/0/0 7/8/3 5/4/6
0/0/0 4/0/7 0/5/0
7/4/5 0/0/0 0/0/9
0/3/0 0/0/5 0/0/0
9/8/2 5/0/0 0/0/0
0/5/0 0/7/0 0/9/0
0/1/7 9/0/4 8/2/5
Having got stuck, I have - VERY reluctantly - tried the draw function and the hint says that I should put 1 into the bottom left cell of the centre block.
My only problem is that I can't see the logic for this step.
Can anyone help, please? |

Hi Airfix, I got stuck at same point and also used draw but I think the logic is as follows.
The bottom left cell of the centre block, looking across row 6 could have
1 2 4 6 7 8 9
4 6 7 9 are eliminated using column 4
2 is eliminated as the 2's in rows 7, 9 mean that 2 must be in column 5 of the centre block.
8 is trickier to explain. An 8 must go in column 9 in either row 4 or 6. If it goes in row 4 then an 8 must go in either column 1 or 3 of row 6. On the other hand, if an 8 goes in row 6 of column 9 then an 8 must go in column 1 or 3 of row 6. Either way that eliminates 8 from the bottom left cell of the centre block leaving 1 as the answer.
Hope this makes sense. I only started doing these last week. |

Thanks Annie - done it. As usual with these things, once you get the key number, all the rest falls into place.
That is SUCH a weight off........ |
