I turned what was probably intended to be an easier puzzle into a BBDB, albeit an enjoyable one.

X-Wing (6)

Multi-coloring (1); r1c5<>1

Multi-coloring (5); r3c7<>5

XY-Wing (789); r7c5<>9

Transport of above; r4c6<>9

XY-Wing (597); r6c9<>7 |

				Hi there:

I have really struggled with this puzzle in particular. Marty noticed he could eliminate a value of 5 through multi-coloring - but I have not been able to see my way through that. Any help from Marty or anybody else would be appreciated!

thnx,

Lorne, if you could post your grid there are a number of people who might give it a shot. In the meantime, I haven't been able to replicate my original solution. Here's the grid after basics as best as I can determine:

After basics (I have not compared it with Marty's grid): | Code: | +-------------------+-------------------+-------------------+

| 6     4     5     | 7     189   2     | 139   389   139   |

| 2     3     8     | 159   6     15    | 1579  579   4     |

| 1     7     9     | 58    3     4     | 56    568   2     |

+-------------------+-------------------+-------------------+

| 3     59    1     | 6     2     79    | 4     579   8     |

| 79    8     2     | 4     5     13    | 1379  379   6     |

| 579   6     4     | 189   1789  138   | 13579 2     1379  |

+-------------------+-------------------+-------------------+

| 59    2     67    | 3     179   156   | 8     4     79    |

| 4     59    367   | 589   789   568   | 2     1     379   |

| 8     1     37    | 2     4     79    | 3679  3679  5     |

+-------------------+-------------------+-------------------+ |

Taking the simplest steps, I had:

SS 9

SS 1

XY 78-9

XY 5-79

BUG+1 5-7-9
