I was doing a Sudoku from a book and my answere was correct and the published answer was correct. This is the first time this happened. Is it possible to have two correct answers to a puzzle. |

There are people here who know a lot more about this than I do, but yes, it's possible to have two answers. However, most published puzzles have one unique solution, so it's possible that even though you had a correct solution per Sudoku rules, you didn't have the answer the puzzle constructor had in mind. |

Is it possible to have two correct answers to a puzzle? |
 two answers,

or more,

surely possible

but hardly desirable.

could you please tell us which book this is?

and post the puzzle as printed? |

				| I, too, had an answer that was different than the published solution with a sudoku puzzle from"Super Sudoku Puzzles" Vol 10 published by Kappa. Since I have never heard of this happening before, I was wondering if I can post the unsolved puzzle, my solution and the published solution. If this is permissible, what is the best way to do this? Is it possible to post images?[/img] |

				| I found the reason why they were different. I had written out a duplicate of the puzzle after the first was wrong. One the duplicate, I forgot to include one of the printed numbers. It is very interesting how the absence of one number can allow for a totally different working answer... essentially one number juxtaposed between two boxes. |

				| Thanks for your response! I see how to place a grid in a non HTML format, thanks to your posting. |
