After one year of daily VH and VH+ puzzles, the Sudok-o-Rama celebrates its first anniversary Smile

I thought that instead of a "Special Edition" I 'd rather go for a permanent enhancement of the o-Rama itself: starting today, there will be an additional puzzle each day, either a squiggly or a color sudoku or an x-sudoku.

The difficulty level is about "hard", i.e. no wings or fishy creatures, just your regular pair/triple/quad and box/line.

Still, when I do the puzzles (with pen&paper, as usual) I find that the x-sudokus take about as long as the classic "very hard"s, and the color and squiggly sudokus take about as long as a vh+. Probably that is because there is less routine solving involved with the more unusual types...

At the moment, I am particularly fond of color sudokus, the colors provide an extra "house" and it is amazing to see how the usual techniques of sweeping the floors and dusting the towers work in a generalized mode on the color/line combinations just like the box/line interactions in regular sudoku.

I've also added full HSH support (Helmut's Sudoku Helper) for these kinds of puzzles, which means that there is a step-by-step tutorial for each single puzzle.

I hope you guys here on daily sudoku get as much pleasure from these non-classic puzzles as I do Smile

Enjoy !

P.S. To give you a glimpse of all three types, I've added color/X/squiggly puzzles to the database for a few days back - starting August 25, 2011 to be exact.
