Code after Basics
Code:

+-------+----------+----------+
| 6 4 3 | 8   9  1 | 5  7  2  |
| 7 1 5 | 6   2  3 | 8  9  4  |
| 8 9 2 | 4   5  7 | 3  6  1  |
+-------+----------+----------+
| 9 3 7 | 5   1  2 | 6  4  8  |
| 5 6 1 | 37  8  4 | 27 23 9  |
| 4 2 8 | 9   B37 6 | 1  5  C37 |
+-------+----------+----------+
| 1 5 4 | 237 A37 9 | 27 8  6  |
| 3 7 9 | 12  6  8 | 4  12 5  |
| 2 8 6 | 137 4  5 | 9  13 D37 |
+-------+----------+----------+
Remote Pairs 37(ABCD); r9c4<>37 solves it.
Skyscraper on 7 in r59c4; r6c9<>7 does it as well.
Also W-Wing 37 with SL 7 in row 9;r6c5<>3.

Clement:

look at the intersection of r9 with b9-the 3s in b9 make r9c4<>3 opening up a 137 xy wing pivot at r9c4 making r5c8<>3 for the solution.

I agree with you. I didn't comlete the basics. I was just wondering why there is no x, xy or xyz wing as we are used in this forum Exclamation

Play this puzzle online at the Daily Sudoku site

The 3s in r7 are locked in b8; r9c4<>3=>XY-Wing 17-13-37, pivot r9c4.

Oops, I didn't notice that Kuskey had made a similar observation earlier in the thread.

I also had missed that final "basic" elimination of a 3, and I also had been wondering about the apparent absence of any traditional x, xy or xyz solution.

I'm relieved that dailysudoku hasn't opened up a new era! Will it ever, I wonder?

And (by the way) I was marvelling at how far the basics went. Does this break records? Only 14 cells undecided, and still "very hard"?

Probably not in the near term.

The Easy, Medium ans Hard can be solved with basics. That is an unusually small number of unsolved cells, but it still needed an advanced move, thus the VH rating.
