Another VH! We're being spoiled at the end of April.
Despite the lack of unsolved cells after basics the 'traditional' solution:
Quote: | As with the last VH, a 126 XY-Wing, this time pivoted at r7c8 |
took a very long time to see. Too many distractions perhaps.
I suspect there are a couple of W wings too- I can see a 16 removing
the 1 in r7c8.......... |

Getting away from standard VH moves, there's an easy BUG+2 in c9.
Quote: | took a very long time to see. Too many distractions perhaps. |
It's been noted in the past that the more bivalue cells there are, the harder it is to find XY-Wings. |

I've found that to be true for myself. Besides Marty's solution, there is an XY-wing pivoted in r7c8 that removes the 6 from r1c1. Is that the "traditional" solution you said was hard to see? |

Hugh said that particular XY-Wing took a long time to find and my statement was a generality about XY-Wings being more difficult to spot when there are a lot of bivalue cells.
Hugh's solution was hidden in the quote box by making the colors white on white. That is sometimes done in an original post so the reader doesn't see it if he doesn't want to. If you want to see it, just select (highlight) what's in the quote box. |
