I find the XYZ-Wing easier because it's easier to look for and to spot. I only have to check nine boxes and if I find an XYZ and XZ cell, then I just have to check one line to see if it contains the YZ.

With the W-Wing, I can miss the fact that there are Remote Pairs or if I notice, I can miss the strong link. And if there are numerous cells with the same bivalue, it's easy for me to miss some of the myriad possibilities.

I agree with Marty that the xyz-wing is easier to spot however, I much prefer using w-wings. For me, searching for a complicated strong link is the fun part of the process.
