An x-wing, then a skyscraper (-7's) will finish it off.

I did a multi-coloring on 6, which I think wasn't a factor, then a Type 4 UR on 15 solved it.

The possible [24] UR* in R56C19 eliminates <7> in R7C7, three possible ways to avoid the DP(Deadly Pattern)

A. R56C1=|9| => R5C2=|4| => R7C2=|7|

B. R5C9={7} => R5C8={9} => R5C2={4} => R7C2={7}

C. R6C9=<8> => R4C7=<9> => R9C7=<4> => R3C7=<7>

Code:
+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 1         25        26   | 4          7       9     | 68       58        3     |
| 3579      79        4    | 15         68      368   | 2        157       67    |
| 57        8         36   | 15         2       36    | 4<7> C   1457      9     |
+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 35        35        7    | 29        489      1     | 8<9>     6         248   |
|*24|9|   {|4|}9      8    | 6         3        5     | 1        7{9}     *24{7} |
|*24|9|     6         1    | 7         489      248   | 5        3        *24<8> |
+--------------------------+--------------------------+--------------------------+
| 8      AB 4{|7|}    9    | 3         1        46    | 6-[7]    2         5     |
| 47        1         5    | 29        469      246   | 3        78        678   |
| 6         23        23   | 8         5        7     |<4>9      49        1     |

I found a x-wing at r28c59 that removed <6> @ r28c6 (which may not have been useful), but a xy-wing with pivot @ r7c7 and pincers @ r1c7 & r8c8 deleted the 8 at r1c8 which broke the puzzle open.

Marty,

Could your Type 4 UR also be viewed as a Type 3 UR using the <47> in r23c8 as a pseudo-single square plus the <79> in r5c8 and the <49> in r9c8 to form a locked set <479> thereby elilminating the <7> in r8c8?

A single XY wing was enough for me: 678 pivot R7C7.

I'm sorry Ted, I don't know. I think the strong link was on 1, so removal of the 5s solved the puzzle.

Ted,

Yes, that 15 UR is also Type 3 and eliminates the <7> as you have noted.

This VH has an XY as a possible first move (as proved by putting the resulting 5 in r1c8) in draw/play which then grades the reulting puzzle as easy!
