XY-wing (356). Coloring will also do it.

Before finding the one step xy-wing<356>, I found an (apparently useless) UR and ER.

Didn't see any UR. I used an xyz (269) and a couple of ER's on <6>. Then took me forever to spot the single 9 in R2.

Good one.

I used an XYZ-Wing, Hidden UR, the XY on 356 which perhaps should have finished it off, but it took me a Type 4 UR to complete it.

Er, I didn't come across any advanced technique whatsoever. I suppose I'll have to do it again...

Peter, I'm with you. Nothing fancy needed whatsoever.

Well, Wendy (et al.), on a second look I passed by this stage
Code:

+-----------------+----------------+--------------+
| 2389 2379 23789 | 1345 6    2459 | 129 259  145 |
| 239  4    1     | 35   2359 8    | 269 7    56  |
| 6    29   5     | 14   29   7    | 8   3    14  |
+-----------------+----------------+--------------+
| 7    2359 239   | 36   239  1    | 4   2568 568 |
| 4    8    29    | 7    259  2569 | 26  1    3   |
| 1    235  6     | 8    234  24   | 7   25   9   |
+-----------------+----------------+--------------+
| 58   1    4     | 9    7    56   | 3   68   2   |
| 89   6    789   | 2    1    3    | 5   4    78  |
| 235  237  237   | 456  8    456  | 169 69   167 |
+-----------------+----------------+--------------+

which was interesting in that the filling in of 4 in C5 moved the puzzle on a long way further to:
Code:

+-------------+---------------+-------------+
| 238 279 378 | 1345 6    459 | 129 29  145 |
| 23  4   1   | 35   2359 8   | 269 7   56  |
| 6   29  5   | 14   29   7   | 8   3   14  |
+-------------+---------------+-------------+
| 7   5   29  | 36   39   1   | 4   268 68  |
| 4   8   29  | 7    59   569 | 26  1   3   |
| 1   3   6   | 8    4    2   | 7   5   9   |
+-------------+---------------+-------------+
| 58  1   4   | 9    7    56  | 3   68  2   |
| 9   6   78  | 2    1    3   | 5   4   78  |
| 235 27  37  | 456  8    456 | 169 69  167 |
+-------------+---------------+-------------+

at which point I don't see a way forward other than by the XY 356 (or possibly XYZ 269)...

Peter

Peter, I hate it when that happens on the second try (as it does all too often)!
I'll try it again tonight using a different method, and I'll report back.

Peter and I must've made the same lucky error on the first go-round. When I tried it again, I too needed the xyz 356 to solve it.
