| No doubt many with higher skills than mine will find an immediate a one-step solution. But I enjoyed this puzzle because it required three steps in my clumsy way of doing things: an XYZ wing, then an X wing and finally an XY wing to crack it. Lots of fun. |

As long as one enjoys the puzzle, it doesn't matter how many steps it takes. I happened to do it with one step only because the step I saw happened to solve it.

I used a one-step ER (C3, Box6) that got rid of <4> in R3C8.

Two steps:
1) W-wing <45>r4c6 & <45>r8c1 connected by strong link 4 in row 2 eliminating 5 in r4c1 which opens:
2) An XY-Wing <25>r5c2-<24>r6c3-<45>r6c9 eliminating 5 in r5c8 solving the puzzle. |

Best puzzle in ages!  Can't remember the last time I used an X-wing. I think Kragzy and I used exactly the same sequence. |
