 Easy for you to say.
I ignored it because I didn't have one.

 Marty,

Very sorry! I was running short on time and posted the code after basics, not the original clues code.

				| Ignoring the ur 17 in B89 I found an xy-chain that solves the puzzle: | Quote: | | (3=2)r4c2-(2=3)r7c2-(3=2)r7c1-(2=3)r2c1-(3=4)r2c8-(4=7)r5c8-(7=8)r6c8-(8=3)r6c6; r4c46,r6c3<>3 |

				| The type 1 UR solves the puzzle in one step. After ignoring it, I found few VH/VH+ steps; I specifically did not see the move posted by Marty.
I used my new tool, the naked pair for a one step solution.

If you still have your post-basics grid and want to post it, I'll see if my move is there. But don't go to a lot of trouble, it's not a big deal.

Ted, the 38s in boxes 35 are connected by the 8s. Extend the 3 from r3c8 to r2c8 to establish the pincers, then transport the 3 from r2c8 to r7c1 via r2c1. However, I had a 39 in r7c8, which is obviously wrong if I had that 23 pair in r7. I have no idea of how I got there.

				| I found it sufficient to work on 2 only: W 2-3 in R1C3
 W 2-3 in R4C4
XY with transport -258 in R4C2

I think you can substitute an XY and an XYZ wing for the first two W's.

				| I resisted the UR temptation as per Ted's advice, found an xy-wing (23-28-38 ) in boxes 2 and 3, which took out the 3 in r3c5/2 in r3c3. The resulting w-wing (r3c3,r6c6 via col 8 ) solved the puzzle. | |

Let's try this again. I erred in prior posts, both in saying that I had no Type 1 and in describing my M-Wing. The 38s in boxes 35 are linked by 8s and the 3 in r3c8 is extended to r2c8 to form pincers at a and d. Extend one abc and the other def and the new pincers cf take out the 3 from r7c2. Sorry about any confusion I created.
