For me todays puzzle (July 8) labelled as hard was more difficult than many of the VH:s with simple xy-wings. Has anybody another opinion?

It was more difficult for me too but it probably should not have been. Took me a long time to spot a naked triple that I should have seen earlier. One of those "Duh!!" moments.

Nope, tried it several times couldn't solve it so it now goes into my unsolved sudoku file. Been quite a few puzzles recently that I haven't been able to solve, I suspect they may all have the same technique to solve them, one which I don't know.

Look for a 15 pair in C6. Then for a 135 triple in R9. You should then be set.

After basic steps gets one here:
Code:

+--------------+-------------+-----------------+
| 2346  39 69  | 256 1   8   | 7    2345  34   |
| 23678 1  5   | 4   67  27  | 38   23    9    |
| 2478  28 78  | 257 9   3   | 158  6     148  |
+--------------+-------------+-----------------+
| 78    6  2   | 37  4   79  | 1389 139   5    |
| 9     5  3   | 1   8   6   | 4    7     2    |
| 1     4  78  | 237 5   279 | 6    39    38   |
+--------------+-------------+-----------------+
| 36    7  16  | 8   2   15  | 1359 13459 1346 |
| 5     39 169 | 67  367 4   | 2    8     1367 |
| 28    28 4   | 9   C36715* | A135 B135  1367 |
+--------------+-------------+-----------------+

The row 9 pair 15 makes the C not a 3. (If c5r9 is 3, then *,A,&B become 15). The rest of the puzzle falls into place.
