Help! I can see the 39-6 XY-wing (pivot r1c9)that solves this but where is the
'basics' solution that grades it only as 'Hard' ?

Hi hugh, if you look at Row 5, you can see that the number 8 is only in r5c4. This brings you to the solution Ciao Gianni
